Hi Friend,

Today we thank everyone for making the New York City Urban Debate League possible. I joined debate because I was one of the shyest students in class. I became hooked on debate and learned more in debate than all my high school, college and graduate school classes combined. More importantly, I met so many inspirational debaters, coaches and teachers along the way. And so we take today to thank you for making debate possible. To our volunteers and judges - thank you for making every debate tournament possible. We could not have debates without you. Thank you for your patience from 8:00am-8:00pm on a Saturday! To our students, families and parents - thank you for dedicating all your time to debate, spending weekends at debate tournaments, spending evenings studying and practicing debate. To our staff, interns, board members, donors and supporters - thank you for all your work and support, everyday of the week, making the debate league possible. And to our coaches and teachers - thank you so much for making debate possible for your schools and students. I owe everything to my own debate coach, Mr. Lindsey. And so Happy Thanksgiving everyone and thank you for believing in our mission that all schools and students should have access to debate. And of course I cannot forget with #Giving Tuesday right around the corner, please consider donating to the NYC Urban Debate League so we can continue to bring debate to more schools and more students. Our board is matching the first $8000 in donations, so double your impact! Check out our donation page to donate and check out your impact!

Happy Thanksgiving! - Erik, erik@debate.nyc
