Champion Debater Starr Arroyo of the Bronx School for Law, Government and Justice delivered a speech in the White House to First Lady Michelle Obama and hundreds of guests. Click here for the Video!  And last week we were honord to announce to all our high school debate teams that each school was invited to attend Michelle Obama's Book Tour event at the Barclays Arena in December! 100 NYC high school debaters, teachers, coaches and staff will attend the event!  In addition to debate tournaments, workshops and practices - we host field trips for schools throughout the year! Many exciting events coming up to complete the month of October! First up is this weekend as we speak NYC debaters are competing at one of the nation's most prestigious and competitive debate tournaments in NYC at the Bronx High School of Science. Congratulations to so many NYCUDL high schools at the tournament. Special congratulations to Westfield High School and Brooklyn Tech High School for breaking in both public forum debate and policy debate! 

Second, October 20th, which is our first HS Tournament #1 (1)High School Tournament of the year! The registration deadline is Monday 5:00pm (10/15/18). Over 100 high school teams have already signed up! Click here to sign up!  Interested in judging or volunteering? Click here to sign up to judge at one of our tournaments! The Policy Debate topic is: Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially reduce its restrictions on legal immigration to the United States. And the Public Forum topic is Resolved: The United States should accede to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea without reservations. Click here for more information!

The following Saturday (10/27) is our first Girls Debate Tournament and Workshop. The morning will feature guest speakers, panels and other activities. The afternoon will be a debate tournament! Click here to learn more.

Debate Educators Conference ("Debate Con X") November 6th

Four times a year, the NYCUDL hosts "Debate Con" which is New York City's first and only conference for debate educators. Join us for Debate Con X featuring a day of workshops, guest speakers, panels, networking and debate coach happy hour. We are honored to have International Debate Coach, Founder of Millineium Debate, and Board Chair of the NYCUDL, Stefan Bauschard as our Keynote Speaker.

Girls Debate Tournament, Workshop, and Round Robin! October 21st, October 27th

On October 27th we host our first all Girls Debate Tournament and Workshop of the Year. The morning will include workshops, panels, guest speakers and speech and debate activities. The afternoon will include debate rounds adjudicated by all female judges! And on October 21st we host the NYCUDL-Westfield Girls Debate Round Robin. Click here to learn more.
